Legolas is the son of Thranduil, Lord of the Elves of Mirkwood, the greatest of the forests in Middle Earth. He is a Gray-Elf,or Sindarin, descended from the Teleri line, the Third and greatest of the three Elf kindreds. He is also referred to as a Silvan Elf denoting "woodland".

Legolas was present at the Council of Elrond where the fate of The Ring of Power was determined. It was decided that it should be cast into the fires of Mount Doom, where it had been made by the evil Sauron. Legolas then became a member of The Fellowship as the representative of the Elves on the Quest.

Legolas is quick on his feet and has heightened senses. He knows when danger is coming. "Something draws near, I can feel it," was one of his few, but very wicked lines in the movie."

*That amazing fight scene with the troll, which he kills by shooting 2 arrows into his mouth.
*When he shoots 2 arrows at the same time.
*Firing an arrow at the troll, whie standing on its head.
*When he pulls Gandalf out of the way of the 1st snow
**When he pops up out of the snow!
*When he pulls Aragorn out of the Guardian of the Lake's way.
*When he saves Gimli by grabbing his beard.
*Fight at the counicl with Gimli
*When he warns the fellowship of the scout birds coming at the start of the journey
**When he says he cannot translate Gandalf's lament, impling how powerful and devastating it is.

*When he understands that Frodo is going alone
**When he takes the arrow, sticks into the enemy's head, pulls it out, and then proceeds to shoot it at the next one.
